Frequently asked
Will compression reduce image quality?
Lossy compression discards some detail to shrink file size, but WebP at 70-80% quality is usually visually identical to the original. Drop the slider lower for bigger savings or raise it for archival quality.
Why is the output WebP and not JPG?
WebP typically compresses 25-35% smaller than JPG at the same visual quality and is supported in every modern browser. If you need JPG, use the Convert Image tool afterwards.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
Client-side tools process in your browser. Server-backed tools send the image to the MakeMyImgs API temporarily, process the requested job, and return the result.
